Course Title :  ‘Grief & Comfort’

A Training resource for those wishing to visit & support the bereaved

The work will vary according to the needs and priorities in each individual parish. It might include:

  • Visiting the recently bereaved
  • Visiting those in hospital
  • Visiting the sick in their homes
  • Visiting those who are unable to attend worship

The personal qualities of a visitor

They will be able to work as part of the parish team and respond positively to what is asked of them.

They should be self aware, objective with regard to their own needs and motivations, good listeners with a prayerful faith. They should have a clear understanding of the purpose of their role. Observing the boundaries in which they are expected to work.

On completion of this course, a commissioning service will be arranged to affirm their important role in the parish team as Lay Visitors in the working life of individual parishes.
